Michael's Xmas Quiz 2020

Teams

  • This quiz is a team based quiz, so you will need to form a team.
  • I suggest 2 or 3 people per team - no more than 4.
  • Nominate someone as captain.
  • The captain to email/WhatsApp me the team name and the team members.
  • I will make each Captain a an admin of the WhatsApp quiz group so that they can add their team players.

Format

  • I will send you 10 questions every day for 12 days.
  • You have 24 hours to confer with your team and send me the answers.
  • This quiz is not done over Zoom.

Quiz questions and scoring

  • Every day for about 12 days I will send a WhatsApp link with the ‘daily’ quiz questions.
  • I will WhatsApp the ‘daily’ quiz questions at 8am Sydney time, which is 9pm London time.
  • You have to email me your team’s answers before I send the next set of questions the next day.
  • If you don’t email your answers in time, your team will get no points for that day.
  • I will keep a tally of the number of correct answers for each team.
  • I will WhatsApp a link with the answers and scores for the previous day, so you can check my tallying.

Competitions

‘Yellow Jersey’ competition

  • The team with the most correct answers to all the questions during the run of the quiz will be the winner.
  • In the event of a tie there will be a play-off - This is the ‘Yellow Jersey’ competition.

‘Green Jersey’ competition

  • There is also a secondary competition - the ‘Green Jersey’ competition.
  • Each day the team who get the most correct answers will be the ‘daily’ winner and will get the ‘Green Jersey’ for that day.
  • If more than one team are tied for the ‘daily’, then they will each get a ‘Green Jersey’
  • At the end of run of the quiz the team with the most number of Green Jerseys will be the ‘Green Jersey’ winner.
  • There is no play-off for the ‘Green Jersey’ winner.

Google and not ‘playing fairly’

  • This quiz is a bit Xmas light relief of in dark times.
  • Obviously you could look up all the answers on Google and get all the questions correct every day, but that is not in the spirit of the quiz, or playing fairly.
  • No-one is going to police you. It is up to you to play fair.
  • However, if it is deemed that one of the teams has not ‘played fairly’ they will be given a ‘Lance Armstrong Black jersey’.
  • Any team with a ‘Lance Armstrong Black jersey’ can continue to play the quiz but cannot win the ‘Green’ or ‘Yellow’ jersey competitions.
